Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
Tracebug is a tracing game for children, made by JCOM LLC, 1309 Coffeen Avenue STE 1200, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801, United States ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. The short version: there are no ads and no account, and your child's progress (and a name, if you add one) stays on the device.
What the app stores, and where
- Progress (finished levels and stickers for each player), each player's chosen animal, and settings (tracing level, sound, appearance) are stored only on the device, in the app's private storage. Deleting the app deletes them.
- A child's first name, only if a grown-up types one in the grown-up area for the optional "My name" level. It is stored only on the device, is never sent to us or anyone else, and can be removed at any time.
- The app never asks for an age, email address, photo, location, contacts or any other personal information, and has no chat or sharing features. What your child traces is not recorded or sent anywhere.
What we collect
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. To understand which features are used and to fix crashes and freezes, the app sends anonymous events and crash and freeze reports to our own server (telemetry.jcom.llc), run by JCOM LLC. Events are things like "level completed"; the install ID is not linked to any person, name or account, and nothing is used for advertising or to build a profile. The technical details also include the region setting. They carry a random install ID, the device model, the app and iOS version, the language and the App Store country, and no name, account, or anything your child traces. When a crash report arrives, the server also records the IP address it came from and the country derived from it, to find problems that affect a region; this is kept only as long as needed to fix the crash. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep your message to answer it. We don't add you to any list.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad tracking, no selling or sharing of data.
- No in-app purchases.
- No account, no sign-up, no social features.
- No location, camera, microphone or contacts access.
Children
Tracebug is designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children: the app asks for none (an optional first name added by a grown-up never leaves the device), and the only data it sends is the anonymous usage and crash information described above, used solely to run and improve the app. If you believe we hold information about your child, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Delete all progress by deleting the app, or reset one player's map in the grown-up area (Players → the player → Start the map again).
- You can turn off crash reports and analytics for all apps in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
- Where a law such as COPPA (US), the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA (California) gives you rights to access, correct or delete data, email us. We do not sell or share personal data. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Data retention and security
Anonymous usage and crash data is kept only as long as needed to understand and fix problems. Email you send us is kept as long as needed to answer it. Data on your device is protected by iOS device encryption and is never transmitted to us.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
