Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
Hourbook is made by JCOM LLC, 1309 Coffeen Avenue STE 1200, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801, United States ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. The short version: your hours, jobs and earnings stay on your iPhone. There is no account, we don't know who you are, and we don't track your location.
What the app stores, and where
- Your shifts, breaks, jobs, hourly rates, payments and settings are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.
- Timesheets (PDF/CSV) are generated on your device and only leave it when you choose to share them (for example by email or AirDrop).
- Widgets and the Live Activity read a small summary (today's hours, running shift, next paycheck) from the app's shared storage on your device.
- Quick add ("yesterday 9 to 5:30 at Acme") is interpreted on your device using Apple Intelligence when available, or a simple built-in parser. The text is never sent to us or to any server.
- Free-plan counters (how many shifts and exports you've used) are stored in your device's keychain and, if you use iCloud, in iCloud Key-Value storage so the limit follows you across your own devices. This contains numbers only.
What we collect
We do not collect names, email addresses, precise locations, contacts, or the content of your shifts.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. To understand which features are used and to fix crashes and freezes, the app sends anonymous events and crash and freeze reports to our own server (telemetry.jcom.llc), run by JCOM LLC. Events look like "shift added", "export completed" or "paywall viewed"; some carry a small value, such as the length of a finished shift in seconds or how many jobs a timesheet covers, but never your pay, rates, job names or notes. They carry a random install ID, the device model, the app and iOS version, the language and the App Store country, and no name, account, or shift contents. When a crash report arrives, the server also records the IP address it came from and the country derived from it, to find problems that affect a region; this is kept only as long as needed to fix the crash. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
- Purchases. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple. To check that a purchase is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a service that receives Apple's purchase receipt together with an anonymous app user ID and basic device information. Neither we nor RevenueCat receive your name, email or payment details. Manage or cancel in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep your message to answer it. We don't add you to any list.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad tracking, no selling or sharing data with data brokers.
- No location tracking. The app never asks for your location.
- No account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log in to.
Your choices
- Delete everything by deleting the app.
- Export your data at any time as CSV from History → Export.
- Crash and freeze reports reach us only if "Share With App Developers" is on in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements; you can turn it off there at any time. The anonymous usage events described above contain no personal data.
Your rights
Because your records never leave your device, we hold almost nothing about you. Where a law such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA (California) gives you rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data, or to object to its processing, you can exercise them by emailing us. We do not sell or share personal data as defined by the CCPA. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Data retention and security
Anonymous usage and crash data is kept only as long as needed to understand and fix problems. Email you send us is kept as long as needed to answer it. Data on your device is protected by iOS device encryption and is never transmitted to us.
Children
Hourbook is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
