Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
Wayfar is made by JCOM LLC, 1309 Coffeen Avenue STE 1200, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801, United States ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. The short version: your Apple Health data stays on your iPhone. There is no account, we don't know who you are, and we never ask for your location. The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to our own server, as described below.
Health data
- What Wayfar reads. With your permission, Wayfar reads your step count and walking distance from Apple Health, on your device, to show today's goal, your streak and your week. It reads nothing else from Health.
- What Wayfar writes. Only when you choose "Save to Health" after a walk: a workout with its start, end and and, for walking-pad sessions, the distance calculated from your pad's speed. Wayfar never writes step counts and never writes anything you didn't ask for.
- Where it goes. Nowhere. Health data is processed on your device and is never sent to us or to any third party, never stored in iCloud by the app, and never used for advertising, marketing or any kind of profiling.
- Turning it off. Health app → Sharing → Apps → Wayfar. The app keeps working with whatever you allow.
What the app stores, and where
- Your goal, gentle days, energy answers, walking-pad sessions and settings are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. Streaks and history are not stored at all: they are rebuilt from Apple Health each time the app opens. Some of these choices are also counted, without your identity, in the anonymous usage statistics described below.
- Widgets and the Live Activity read a small summary (today's steps, goal, streak, the last seven days) from the app's shared storage on your device.
- Free-plan counters (how many walking-pad sessions you've used this month) are stored in your device's keychain and, if you use iCloud, in iCloud Key-Value storage so the limit follows you across your own devices. Numbers only. No health data.
What we collect
We do not collect names, email addresses, precise locations, contacts, or any data from Apple Health.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. To understand which features are used and to fix crashes and freezes, the app sends anonymous events and crash and freeze reports to our own server (telemetry.jcom.llc), run by JCOM LLC. Events look like "walk started", "gentle day on" or "paywall viewed"; some carry a small value, such as the length of a walk in minutes, the starting goal you picked, or your answer to the energy check-in. They carry a random install ID, the device model, the app and iOS version, the language and the App Store country, and no name, account, or Apple Health data. When a crash report arrives, the server also records the IP address it came from and the country derived from it, to find problems that affect a region; this is kept only as long as needed to fix the crash. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
- Purchases. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple. To check that a purchase is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a service that receives Apple's purchase receipt together with an anonymous app user ID and basic device information. Neither we nor RevenueCat receive your name, email or payment details. Manage or cancel in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep your message to answer it. We don't add you to any list.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad tracking, no selling or sharing data with anyone.
- No location tracking. The app never asks for your location.
- No account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log in to.
Your choices
- Delete everything the app holds by deleting the app. Your walks saved to Health stay in Health, where you control them.
- Change or withdraw Health access at any time in the Health app.
- Crash and freeze reports reach us only if "Share With App Developers" is on in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements; you can turn it off there at any time. The anonymous usage events described above contain no personal data.
Your rights
Because your steps and records never leave your device, we hold almost nothing about you. Where a law such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA (California) gives you rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data, or to object to its processing, you can exercise them by emailing us. We do not sell or share personal data as defined by the CCPA. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Data retention and security
Anonymous usage and crash data is kept only as long as needed to understand and fix problems. Email you send us is kept as long as needed to answer it. Data on your device is protected by iOS device encryption and is never transmitted to us.
Children
Wayfar is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
